A Note On Playing The Videos: Depending on your browser speed, it might be beneficial for you to, after you first press the play button, pause the video and let it load some before you begin watching. That way your viewing will not be interrupted with periodic loading pauses.

Also: Some of these videos play versions of the song (i.e. live versions) that may differ from the transcribed version in our drum charts. Most, however, are identical to our transcribed version. In any case, the exact audio can always be downloaded for around $1 from the Amazon MP3 store.

"Walk Like A Man" by The Four Seasons
"Walk Right Back" by The Everly Brothers
The Four Seasons were formed in the mid '50s in Newark, New Jersey, and featured the unique falsetto singing of Frankie Valli. The group was first called the Variatones, then the Four Lovers, and finally the Four Seasons, after a bowling alley lounge. After throwing a few gutter balls, they finally started striking with "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," and this one, "Walk Like A Man." All three hit the top of the charts in 1962. Not a bad year. The Everly Brothers' roots and family were from the coal mountains of Kentucky, and one can hear that lineage in their harmonies, which brought a new freshness to rock and roll. "Walk Right Back" was their 19th Top 40 song in a long line of hits. Unique drum part. Drummers: use double stroke sticking on the toms and snare (snare off), with the RH going to the ride cymbal. Play the eighth notes with a "swing" interpretation.

Here's the guys from a 1966 NBC summer replacement show, with intro by John Davidson and George Carlin.

"Walking The Dog" by Rufus Thomas
Rufus Thomas was born way back in 1917, in Cayce, Mississippi, but grew up in Memphis, which was fortuitous for both him and the Stax record label. Recorded on June 17, 1963, "Walkin' The Dog" was a Top Ten hit by November of that same year. Thomas must have had a thing for animals, because seven years later he made the charts again with "Do The Funky Chicken."
